Many questions were left in the minds of voters following the last two presidential elections. Questions surrounding integrity and fairness were at the root of a proposal to reform the election process.
The state of Ohio stepped into the spotlight during the last election as the nation waited to see which direction the voting results tilted. As Secretary of State, Republican Kenneth Blackwell served as Ohio's chief elections officer. Controversy erupted and speculation of possible impropriety occurred when the Republican candidate won the election.
RON (Reform Ohio Now) is one of the organizations seeking to address some of the concern expressed by a large segment of the community. The objective of the citizen inspired initiative is composed of four Proposed State Constitutional Amendments designed to bring drastic changes to the election process and politics in Ohio.
"People must understand that corruption must be eliminated," said Dr. Trent Hayes Pastor of New Antioch Bible Fellowship in Reynoldsburg. Hayes was one of several clergy speaking in support of the constitutional amendments proposed by the organization last week at a press conference held by RON.
